The Planning Paradox in Data and AI
Organizations want to become data-inspired and start with a roadmap. "What will it cost, what are the milestones, and when will it be done?"
Completely understandable. Management needs certainty before investing in data and AI.
But this is precisely where a paradox lies:
"The greater the uncertainty an organization faces around the use of data and AI, the stronger the desire for a detailed plan โ and the less useful that plan actually is as a tool."
Because the journey to a data-inspired organization is not a complicated problem with a known solution path. It is predominantly complex โ full of surprises that no plan in the world can anticipate.
The certainty being sought? An illusion.
